Introduction:
The position is within the Marketing and Business Development division of Retail, reporting to the Retail Executive for this division.
The purpose of this role is to lead a diverse professional team in the successful management of the product life cycle of the Retail product range.
The Incumbent will be responsible for:
To manage the Product Development area for the Retail division.
To manage and lead a team of approximately 25 individuals, including 5 actuaries.
To formulate and review the product development strategy in the various target markets client chooses to operate in.
The filtering and prioritising of new developments.
The execution of the development process.
Product design and pricing.
Post launch support and ongoing maintenance and profitability management of the product range.
To contribute to the strategic thinking within Retail, in particular on the markets we choose to operate in and the strategies we employ to be successful in those markets.
The applicant should meet these requirements:
A qualified actuary, with at least 5 years experience and 3 years post qualification experience, preferably in the individual life and/or product development environment. During this time the applicant should have had sound demonstrable leadership experience.
A proven track record demonstrating a thorough understanding of the individual life market, and the products and services offered within it.
A thorough understanding of the product development environment, preferably within the individual life market.
A thorough understanding of marketing principles.
Ability Test:
Candidates will be expected to undergo an assessment process as part of the selection process.
Competencies:
The ability to contribute to the strategic thinking within Retail.
The ability to work with a variety of internal parties, including research, sales, marketing, systems development, customer management, legal, corporate actuarial and Retail executive management.
The ability to excel under pressure with a wide variety of issues to consider at any one time.
Good communication skills.
Sound technical abilities to develop and guide the product development teams, as well as to engage with the corporate actuarial teams. |
