| Job Title: Senior Trainee Actuary/London/Scotland/Excellent |
| Description |
| To work under the direction of a Qualified Actuary or other more senior team members. As an Actuarial Trainee you will be required to gain experience in a number of teams within the department. This will be facilitated through the department rotation scheme, whereby trainees are rotated into a different team normally every 2
years.
Responsibilities
Some responsibility for the supervision of other team members or delivery of specific pieces of work.
Provide support and guidance to more junior members of the team.
Seek and act on opportunities to develop wider and deeper technical and business understanding.
Undertake numerical analysis and manipulation using a range of systems and actuarial tools.
Prepare and document simple computer programmes and models to clearly defined requirements.
Support a range of management reports and returns.
Respond to straightforward technical queries.
Support other team members in a range of project work.
Monitor business and external developments related to own area of responsibility and propose consequent changes to established procedures.
Seek and act on opportunities to develop technical and business understanding
Develop effective working relationships with team colleagues and internal/external business contacts
Draft and maintain up-to-date, appropriate documentation and checklists for any processes that are implemented.
Knowledge and Skills
• • With at least 3 years relevant experience in a financial/actuarial environment.
• Track record of being a fast learner as evidenced by job performance and exam progress.
• Actively studying for and making satisfactory progress with the Institute / Faculty exams as defined in our Study Support Policy.
• Good understanding of the Financial Services industry and regulatory environment.
• Experience of financial reporting and actuarial modelling for a Life Assurance company.
• Some knowledge of significant regulatory processes within UK operations.
