| Job Title: PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ACTUARY - CAPE TOWN |
| Description |
The incumbent will be responsible for:
Managing the department responsible for technical development of the EB group risk product range;
Reviewing of the bases used to price group risk products;
Technical development of the tools used to price group risk products, this would include further development of
stochastic tools currently available to price individual schemes;
Liaising with the Systems department to ensure the programs in place are appropriate, with the necessary testing
should changes be requested;
Reviewing competitor products and ensuring competitiveness from both a product offering and
a pricing perspective;
Identifying product development opportunities and building of the necessary products/ features;
Exploring alternative risk transfer programs and determine further possible business opportunities;
Evaluating profitability per product type (group life, income continuation benefits, funeral, etc.);
Management of the EB Risk Solutions reinsurance program;
Building of additional control measures and working with the respective departments to ensure implementation;
Providing technical support to the different teams within EB Risk Solutions;
Understanding the operational environment and facilitating the improvement thereof;
This would include working with the Administration teams to ensure the data available for management information is accurate and relevant.
The applicant should meet these requirements:
Matric or Grade 12 qualification;
Qualified actuary (although nearly qualifieds will also be considered);
Experience in the Employee Benefits field in particular the group risk environment is preferable;
Good computer literacy, especially Excel, some VB knowledge preferable;
Some knowledge of stochastic modelling and Monte Carlo simulation preferable;
Proactive, action orientated, adaptable individual who is able to handle stress in calm, mature way;
Ability to take initiative, be inclined to independently search out knowledge, spot opportunities and problems and then contribute to the solutions;
A track record of multi-tasking and delivery of multiple deliveries is essential;
Well-developed planning and organizing ability with strong problem solving and judgement skills;
The ability to communicate with clients and team members;
The willingness to be a team player and contribute to building a strong team.
