A nearly or newly qualified Actuary will work as part of a team supporting consultants and scheme actuaries on client relationships and delivery of technical consulting with a view to being the main contact (cross business and externally) on a number of clients.
Job holders will be either studying for the actuarial professional qualification or have qualified as an actuary.
Key duties and responsibilities include the following:
Regularly attends and participates in client meetings.
Proactively manages the completion and timely delivery of client work.
Formulates views and provides input to client advice. Delivers directly to clients on some issues.
Ensures all relevant compliance procedures are followed.
Is the main contact on a number of clients with appropriate support.
Provides an effective level of business support for the team's portfolio of clients.
Acts as a project manager for the consulting unit in managing the valuation process with the RSC.
Works alongside junior/senior colleagues and with a cross section of people from other businesses.
Meets business targets and supports consultants to meet billing deadlines
Qualifications
Educated to degree level with a minimum 2:1 degree
Passed all CT exams and making good progress through the remaining exams
Successful candidates will have a broad understanding of how UK pensions schemes operate and a through understanding of the UK Pensions Act with the ability to interpret the rules and awareness of what they mean for client work
Able to demonstrate an understanding of and the importance of the impact of pension scheme financing on companies management
Experience of a range of actuarial work within a pensions consulting environment is essential to include experience of actuarial valuations, calculations for individual members, and actuarial costing's. With an advanced knowledge of actuarial tools being required.
Excellent planning and organisational ability in order to prioritise and complete work in accordance with deadlines.
Good analytical skills and ability to work though tasks in a logical manner
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team and build strong working relationships with your peers, senior colleagues.
Strong IT skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel. |
